Suki Wild
A village-owned eco-lodge on Rendova Island, looking out over Tetepare — the largest uninhabited island in the South Pacific.
Suki Wild sits on Rava Point, the south-eastern tip of Rendova Island — customary land of the Rava people, and once home to their chief. The resort is owned and operated by direct descendants of that lineage, who still live in the nearby village of Lokuru. Wildlife is abundant, with species endemic to the area, and the sense of being right at the edge of the earth is real.
Accommodation
All rooms lock, run on solar lighting, and have USB charging for your devices — plus a fan and mosquito net each, though Rava Point is fortunate to have no mosquitoes to speak of. Telekom signal is strong enough for calls or data.
The Leaf Haus is the resort's large bungalow — a king bed, a small galley kitchenette, an ensuite with tiled shower, solar lighting, USB charging and a large outdoor balcony. Bungalow 2 has two separate bedrooms (one double, one twin) sharing a balcony and a detached bathroom. Bungalow 3 has two separate twin bedrooms, also sharing a balcony and detached bathroom. All rooms are serviced daily.
Dining
Three meals a day are included — a continental breakfast of toast, jams, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee and tea; lunches of salads, rice dishes, fresh fish and sandwiches; and dinners ranging from whole lobster and mud crab to baked or curried fish. The seafood is the star of the show here, pulled from the ocean daily.
Banita Turtles Experience
About a 40-minute boat ride from Suki Wild, Banita is where leatherback turtles — the world's largest — come ashore on black sand to nest, some over 1.5m long and laying up to eight clutches a season. Stay overnight with the rangers to learn about these creatures firsthand. Leatherbacks lay year-round, with the main season October to January and hatchlings appearing January to April.
