Accommodation

Three individually built, quality houses (with more planned), each with a king bedroom suite, entrance lobby, a separate shower room/WC with walk-in shower, and an oversized veranda — one unit has ramp and direct bridge access to the reception/restaurant area. All units are raised on a single level with stunning views over Nono Lagoon.

Location

Nggatirana Island is a naturally forested, 15-hectare private conservation area with a round-island nature trail, home to nothing but Evis Resort itself. The lagoon side has sandy beaches leading to a 400m coral reef thick with marine life, while the weather side is protected by an ancient reef. Nearby Vangunu Island offers premium dive sites at Penguin Reef, Rapichana Point and Hele Bar, plus snorkel sites including the well-known Soltai 61 wreck — Vangunu is also home to Gerbera's village of Zaira, one of the most remote and designated-conservation places on earth, overlooking extinct volcanoes and small lagoon islands. Evis is just 25 minutes from Seghe airfield by the resort's 40hp boat.

Activities

Free snorkel gear gives every guest access to the surrounding reef, and free kayak use for exploring the island's further edges. More serious divers can arrange excursions from $70/dive (check with Go Tours for current dive shop dates). On land, short and longer treks on Vangunu Island offer both cultural and historic perspective, and Nggatirana has its own Tabu site — a massive pile of volcanic rock with real cultural significance, topped by a small tabernacle added in 1909 where whales' teeth and traditional shell money were once offered to a fertility god. The island's Pandanus bush walk has a genuinely prehistoric feel, with birdlife and wild orchids throughout. Cultural visits to Mbopo and Zaira (home to a turtle-hatching program) are also on offer, with close ties to the local school at Halisi.
