Motumahi, “happy islet” in English, is a comfortable and relaxing base while touring East Rennell. Friendly service and the unusual natural setting of East Rennell offer something different, and memories that last. The lodge sits on an islet inside Lake Tegano.
Where you stay
Bungalow East is set up for a family, with one king bed and ample space for two singles, its own balcony and kitchen. Bungalow West has two rooms with double beds, and a shared balcony and kitchen. Four further rooms on the mainland offer more space and suit meetings. Amenities include a shared modern shower supplied from rainwater tanks, a flush toilet, and water for drinking and cooking.
Things to do
Kayaks and a stand-up paddle board are available for guests. The lodge organises tours and activities including a round-the-lake sightseeing trip taking in the octopus cave and the sea bird sanctuary, snorkelling over WWII relics, the hike to Tuhugago lookout with beach activities, and village experience tours. Lake transfers to and from the lodge are complimentary.
