Noguna is a locally owned homestay at Kia, roughly two hours from Suavanao, Santa Isabel’s northernmost airstrip. You are looked after by family and friends, always ready with a smile, a laugh and the genuine Melanesian hospitality the Solomon Islands is known for. The water here is some of the most pristine anywhere, which makes it ideal for snorkelling and swimming, and there are jungles to explore, a variety of fish to catch, and an immense number of nearby uninhabited islands and bays.
Where you stay
The island has a large traditional hut with a kitchen, dining room and common room for all guests, and shared bathroom facilities. There are two kinds of accommodation: two over-water couples bungalows, and the main house with four private bedrooms.
Things to do
Village day trips and a garden hike, fishing and snorkelling (bring your own gear for both), island day trips to Rapita and Pelopeka, surfing, traditional performances, a traditional tool and weapon workshop, and keu collecting — gathering mudshells, with a scenic boat ride to get there. Longer stays can be built around a traditional welcome, island day trips, a village tour and bushwalking, and a traditional send-off with feasting and performances.
